Van Insurance Guide
What is covered?
Van insurance is very similar to car insurances with regard to the levels
of cover offered by companies. The three main types of cover offered
are third party, third party fire and theft and comprehensive van
insurance.
Most vans are often classed as commercial vehicles, however, insurance
companies and brokers specialising in this area will often provide
competitive quotations for grey imports, minibuses, American, modified, and camper vans.
It is normal practice for most insurers at the quotation stage
to ask what type of commercial activity the van is used for.
Unless the van
is used in the motor trade or for hire or reward, most insurers
will
offer cover. However, if the van you wish to insure is used in
connection with the activities already mentioned there will be
fewer insurance
companies willing to cover the vehicle.
Discounted premiums maybe offered by some
insurers if the van
is parked in a secure location overnight and insurance approved
security systems are fitted and in working order.
Look out for policies that include liability insurance either
as part of the policy or as an optional extra. This is particular
useful for
van owners and drivers who wish to protect themselves and
the business.
