Tesco is the British retail success story of the
millennium and currently has the biggest market share in UK retailing.
The company operates from nearly 1900 outlets in the UK and is rapidly
expanding in certain Eastern European countries and the Far East. The
Tesco business is split into three retailing areas, Tesco.com,
Personal Finance and Telecoms.
It is the Tesco Personal Finance which is responsible for selling insurance
and finance products to consumers. This division of Tesco is a joint
venture between The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) and Tesco Plc and is
regulated by the UK Financial Service Authority.
A wide of range of insurance and financial products are available from
Tesco Personal Finance including life and home insurance, breakdown,
pet, travel, health and car insurance. In addition there is a credit
card product for both consumers and businesses, personal loans, savings
products and even a mortgage finder service.
All insurance products can be viewed using Tesco’s
website and most offer the facility to quote and buy online. Some insurance
products
are underwritten and administered by UK Insurance Limited (UKI) who in
turn are a Royal Bank of Scotland Company and regulated by the FSA, see
individual products for more information.
