Moped Insurance
Guide
The official definition of a moped is one that has an engine
capacity of not more than 50cc and does not exceed 50 km/h (about 31
miles mph).
Mopeds are often the entry motorcycle for sixteen and seventeen year olds
who wish to become mobile.
Why is moped insurance required?
Under the Road Traffic Act, it is law for all road users
in the UK to take out the
minimum level of insurance which is known as third party to cover the use
of your vehicle. This type of moped insurance policy covers you for any expenses
and compensation claims you may incur as the result of being legally liable
as the result of death or bodily injury caused to someone else, damage to
third party property including other vehicles and legal representation costs.
There are of course other levels of moped insurance available such as third party
fire and theft and comprehensive cover, although these will undoubtedly cost
more in return for greater coverage and policy benefits.
If you are actively searching for competitive insurance quotes
and own a new moped which is less than six months old, look out for products
which
replace the moped with an identical make and model if its stolen
or written off following an accident of damaged by fire, lightening or
explosion.
