In an attempt to capture market share, Budget’s
Home insurance product incorporates some useful benefits such as new
for old contents cover (see their terms and conditions) and accidental
damage in the home for certain electrical items including televisions, computers,
video and hi-fi. In addition, Budget covers frozen food in recognition
that many homes in the UK now own a fridge freezer or stand alone
freezer.
As one of the leading UK intermediaries, Budget offers a variety of
discounts to entice new customers and also claims to find the most competitive
contents only, buildings only, or combined contents and buildings insurance
from its panel of 15 insurers.
For homeowners interested in Budget’s building insurance, the sum insured
allowed to rebuild the property can range from between £30,000
to £750,000. In addition to the structure of the property and all
permanent fixtures and fittings being covered, walls, fences, drives,
patios and outbuildings are also included in the insurance policy. Other benefits
include the option to include accidental damage whilst alternative accommodation
expenses up to specified limits are provided as standard.
Budgets contents insurance allows prospective customers
to choose the sum insured that reflects what they own. The minimum
sum insured is £15,000
and the maximum is £99,000. Regardless of the sum insured chosen,
the limit for high risk items must not exceed 20% of the overall contents
sum insured. Personal possessions and up to £3000 office equipment
for any business run from home is covered automatically.
