The Budget Group of Companies are one of the leading online intermediary insurers in the UK and operate under various different brands and affinity outlets. The company was established in 1992 and is responsible for selling a range of personal products including car insurance, van, motorbike, breakdown, travel and home insurance. In addition, the company has recently opted to sell a range of alternative financial products that include life insurance and personal loans.

In 2006, it was reported that the company looked after over 1 million customers whilst operating from various locations in the Midlands and North East and Cape Town in South Africa. Worldwide, the company currently services over 2 million customers enjoying a large market share in Australia and considerable success in South Africa.

Until recently, Budget operated a number of high street branches in the UK rivalling Swinton and other competitors, however, following a strategic review it was decided to sell off this portion of the business to Swinton.

Although not widely publicised, Budget operates an affinity division responsible for administering insurance products for leading high street brands including none other than Marks & Spencer, Bradford & Bingley and the Post Office. Other insurance brands owned by Budget include Dial Direct and Bennetts who are known for their motorbike insurance.
