Green Flag used to be known as National Breakdown and can trace their
origins back to 1971. In the UK, the company claims to have access to over 6,000
mechanics. Similarly in Europe the figure is 15,000 garage mechanics.
There are five different levels of Green Flag breakdown
insurance to choose from including European
cover. The cheapest product is rescue which includes roadside
assistance or tow to the nearest garage if car repair at the roadside cannot
be achieved. Green Flag Rescue Plus includes the benefits of rescue except
insurance cover
applies should your car breakdown at home. Recovery incorporates all
of the features of rescue and will transport your broken down vehicle
if it cannot be repaired at the roadside to your home or UK destination
of your choice. For those who choose Rescue Plus as their preferred
breakdown insurance
option, the benefits are enhanced. Allowing for the fact the rescue,
rescue plus and recovery are included, breakdown policyholders also benefit from
the choice of a hire car, alternative accommodation or transport to travel
to their chosen destination assuming the broken down car cannot be fixed
at the roadside. In addition to this, Green Flag will also pay the cost
of a single class rail ticket to collect the car from the garage once
it has been repaired.
Euro Plus cover is identical to Rescue Plus except
breakdown policyholders are
entitled to 90 days insurance whilst driving in Europe. It is worth noting
however, that the insured vehicle must not be more than 16 years old.
Regardless of which car breakdown insurance is chosen, Green Flag promise
not to charge for any call out and provide a free message service to
friends and family.
